The Fishing

Both are 2 rod beats. Ardmeallie has 6 pools whilst Boat of Turtory has 6 named pools. Thigh waders are adequate. In both beats fly rods from 12' to 15' are sufficient.
Fly sizes are mainly 6's in the early part of the season going down to 12's for the summer months. Fly and spinning are permitted during the months February, March, April and May, after which it is fly only unless there is high water when spinning will be permitted. WORMING IS NOT PERMITTED. Fishing huts are on both beats.

The Fish

The salmon runs start in March. March, April and May are best for spring fishing for salmon. The months of June, July and August are best for sea trout fishing. Grilse runs begin normally in June and carry on right through to September. The summer salmon runs are usually from July to the end of October. Brown trout fishing is at its best from the beginning of the season until May and then there are evening rises throughout the summer.
